Pharma DD launches premier issue under new owner,
Cambridge Healthtech Institute
Issue highlights “proof-of-concept” research activities to ensure
increased success in the pipeline
NEWTON, MA – May 24, 2006 – Cambridge Healthtech Institute (CHI), the leader in biomedical conference development and management, today announced that the premier issue of Pharma DD (Pharmaceutical Discovery & Development) magazine has been published and will make its first appearance at the upcoming World Pharmaceutical Congress this week in Philadelphia, PA. Adorned with a new name (formerly Pharmaceutical Discovery from
Advanstar), an updated subscriber base, solid editorial and a new spirit, Pharma DD rejoins the life sciences arena as CHI applies its expertise to technical and business publishing aimed at management and laboratory professionals.
Delivered as a 6x per year publication, Pharma DD will have a total qualified, direct request circulation of 40,000 subscribers who are actively involved in research and development within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and research laboratory industries.
The publication will contain a stimulating mix of content: the latest news gathered by Pharma DD editorial and correspondents; features and case studies providing in-depth coverage of critical technical and business strategy issues from drug discovery through development and into commercialization; commentary from industry leaders.
“As CHI's first endeavor into publishing, I could not be more excited and optimistic about launching Pharma DD. This premier issue showcases CHI's expansive network of contacts in life sciences and delivers the kind of content that CHI has a reputation of providing.” says CHI president, Philips
Kuhl. “We look forward to building Pharma DD into the most widely read source of drug discovery and development solutions and information.”
Pharma DD’s premier issue, available online at
www.pharmaDD.com, features a special report, “Proof of Concept: Pharma’s New Watchwords”, which describes how better tools and approaches may finally bridge discovery and clinical trials. Authored by award-winning editor-in-chief, Malorye Allison
Branca, the feature provides detailed insight from leading pharmaceutical companies on technologies and strategies that may allow them to predict a drug failure earlier in the development cycle, and ensure greater success of those that go on to clinical trials. (See release issued May 24 – “Pharmaceutical companies are pushing many more candidate drugs into early stage trials, but will that be enough to cure the product drought? Proof-of-concept may be the answer.”). Ms. Branca is a widely-published science writer and editor. Previously, she launched the Spectrum Drug Discovery and Development portfolio at Decision Resources, and CHI’s Advances reports series, which focuses on novel discovery and development tools. She has also launched multiple health related magazines.
